Their Aberdeen office is now looking to recruit for the following key position NAVAL ARCHITECT Permanent Negotiable Base salary full benefits package Location Aberdeen The role The Naval Architect will report to the Senior Project Manager on a daily basis in relation to naval architecture issues for our client s fleet of vessels. Take the lead in documenting and verifying that fleet of vessel is designed and operated within the framework of the current legislation. Assist Operations department and HSE Q department on vessel operations and procedures as well as assisting marine crew in naval architecture related issues. Represent the company in discussion with clients classification societies authorities and industry organisation on naval architect issues. Qualification Requirements Basic Occupational Competence BSc MSc or equivalent degree in Naval Architecture Marine Technology. Chartered Engineer Member of Royal Institution of Naval Architects or similar. Computer competence fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite of programs. Proficient in the use of industry software packages for mooring analysis stability analysis and structural analysis. Basic knowledge and experience in AutoCAD preferable. Basic Safety Requirement Basic Safety Induction and Emergency Training. Certificate of Medical Fitness UKOOA Norway or equivalent Experience Knowledge Strong experience from within engineering companies rig owners operators shipyards or classification societies. Experience in the design and modifications of semi-submersible units and understanding of the main marine system required to operate the vessels safely. Responsibilities Develop controls umbilical related philosophies project specific documents and drawings. Qualify new technologies and subsea hardware for project use. Perform necessary identified studies to support the development and or understanding of new subsea technologies. Perform subsea control technical assessments of vendors proposed product lines to support the maintenance of the Subsea Approved Vendor List. Liaison with project teams function teams e.g. Drilling Reservoir Flow Assurance and Materials EPC contractors and vendors to ensure controls related equipment is designed delivered and installed in line with project requirements and objectives. Participate in design and SHE reviews HAZOPs HAZIDs risk assessments and verify related risk and reliability issues are closed out. Interface with 3rd party QA QC to ensure that subsea hardware quality requirements are met. Address control system functionality and optimization to assure project expectations for functionality and operability are met. Participate in pre-commissioning system integration testing installation and commissioning activities of subsea controls equipment. Participate in troubleshooting equipment problems with vendors installation contractors and other operating affiliates. Participate in troubleshooting subsea controls related problems with vendors installation contractors and other operating affiliates. Promote safety in all project aspects of vendor manufacturing assembly testing installation and operations. Travel domestic or international including developing countries.
