The Superintendent is responsible on-site installation construction activities in compliance with approved construction execution plan consistent with delivery of the project objectives. The Superintendent focuses as much as practical on the work within his discipline and his area. The incumbent will work in close cooperation with all members of the integrated project team Hatch Technip and KNS personnel to achieve the performance and cost objectives as defined for the area within the project s business case. NATURE AND SCOPE The Instrumentation Superintendent supports the Area Construction Manager to develop and deliver the project business case for the assigned area through application of professional project management practices and skills for all construction activities and provides exceptions reporting to the Construction Coordinator-Mechanical and Electrical as required. The incumbent must have technical knowledge along with health and safety quality construction and contract management experience to work within the area or the given scope. The position requires substantial influence and good communications skills. The incumbent must have experience skills and ability to work with a diverse group of professional personnel and cultures. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES In general and insofar as practical the Superintendent focuses on the work carried out by contractors and workers within his discipline and his area. JOB DESCRIPTION HSE Activities 1. Champions health safety and zero accident culture and makes this visible and mandatory throughout the area team. Be pro-active with contractors to promote safe and hazardous free work within the designated area of work 2. Ensure employees have received adequate HSE training 3. Assist Contractors to achieve or exceed project HSE requirements and objectives 4. Support the Site HSE Manager to conduct compliance review of HSE plans. Quality Control activities 1. Review all Contractors Quality Control Plans for compliance with Project Quality Control Procedures 2. Together with the Site Quality Manager coordinate quality control inspection and testing 3. Ensure that hold points of the Field Quality Control Plans are witnessed 4. Ensure that the completion the validity and traceability of documents included in the Construction Contractors as built documents is checked 5. Follow-up and ensure closure of issued discrepancy reports non conformance reports NCR punch list items and other exceptions to conformity. Construction activities 1. Review Contractors organization resource on the Site is in sufficient number and with suitable qualification to manage all activities and provide continued supervision of the works 2. Ensure that all construction activities within the designated geographic area are well planned coordinated and make best use of the available resources 3. Coordinate and manage work fronts to achieve project schedule and progress objectives 4. Verify the adequacy of Contractors equipment to perform the required work 5. Authorize withdrawal of equipment materials from the warehouse 6. Check materials supplied by Contractors for compliance with the approved specification 7. Check the preservation by Construction Contractors of materials taken out from material storage JOB DESCRIPTION 8. Along with Field Engineering check Construction Contractors method statements and work procedures 9. Attend the coordination and progress review meetings with Construction Contractors 10. Record daily activity in a log 11. Manage work acceptance operations and follow-up of the punch lists 12. In due time expedite check and approve attachments for work orders close-out 13. Undertake specific work as requested by the Construction Coordinator 14. Assist the Pre-op and Commissioning group 15. Provides mentoring to assigned area staff. Contract Administration 1. Provide input to reviews potential cost and schedule trends as with scope of work variations and provides recommendations to the Site Manager Construction Manager 2. Review and approve the progress proposed by Construction Contractors 3. Analyse additional work and modifications to determine the cause and propose the solution to be implemented 4. Check the list and revision number of documents transmitted to Construction Contractors 5. Issues all work orders engineering request and variation submitted by subcontractors describes the works to be implemented requests for an estimated price issues the work order initiates numbering and makes all involved functions approve 6. Ensures weekly and monthly report input is provided in a timely manner and the input is factual and complete. RELATIONSHIPS In New Caledonia the Superintendent is the main interface for all work within his discipline. As such he maintains working relations with the Construction Coordinator within his area as well as other functional groups within the area e.g. Area Discipline Field Engineer Contract Administrator etc. He also interfaces with the pre-operation and commissioning team personnel working in his discipline and area.
